Aastha Sharma of Kathmandu, Nepal is the first recipient of The Sunflower Initiative’s Harriet Fitzgerald Scholarship and is attending Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. 

Aastha had a stellar record as a high school student at Budhanilkantha School in Kathmandu and exceptional SAT scores.  Personal recommendations noted her diligence as a student and her honesty, positive attitude and leadership potential. Aastha also volunteered as a tutor in math and science for underprivileged children.

Aashta believes that  “A “women’s college would be a perfect place. . . ; my accomplishments, academic skills, activities, behaviors would define me there.”
